The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction is Headquartered in Lexington MA. It is comprised of 15 States. Within these States are what are known as Valley and there are 55 Valleys across these 15 States. Ohio has 12 Valleys within its borders with The Valley of Toledo being one of that number.
In the mid to late 90’s the Governing body for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction (NMJ) rolled out a plan to establish Learning Centers in each of the Valleys to Tutor Children with Dyslexia. The basic premise to start a Learning Center was to establish a fund to endow the Learning Center and ensure its ongoing operation. This fund once established would determine the size of the Learning Center to start.
Dyslexia hits close to home for Deborah. She is the Mother of a son with dyslexia and dysgraphia. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Bowling Green State University; additionally she has earned the Orton-Gillingham Program of Education and Therapy for Dyslexia Certificate, which she has had for 12 years.
Pam earned a Bachelor of Science, Elementary Education from Ohio State University. She also has a Master of Arts, Special Education, with an emphasis on Education of the Visually Impaired from Ohio State University. Pam has spent 30 years teaching public grade school, 15 of which were in special education. Pam has 2 years experience as a Tutor. and 6 years as a Assistant Director of Children’s Dyslexia Center of Northwest Ohio Orton Gillingham Multisensory Training and Tutoring Center. She also has two years experience as a Children’s Specialist Sight Center of Northwest Ohio and two years as a Teacher for the Ohio State School for the Blind.

Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability. Dyslexia refers to a cluster of symptoms, which result in people having difficulties with specific language skills, particularly reading. Students with dyslexia usually experience difficulties with other language skills such as spelling, writing, and pronouncing words.
